PTI (Pre-Trial Intervention)
Drew Solnoki, Byrd Law Firm
Many clients inquire about PTI, which stands for Pre-Trial Intervention. It’s a diversion program that we strive to secure for our eligible clients. PTI is available to individuals with little to no prior criminal history. Notably, successful completion of PTI results in the dismissal of the case, making the individual eligible to have charges expunged from their record on the misdemeanor level.
PTI, Pre-Trial Intervention, involves three months of supervision with specific conditions, including completing a relevant class, 15 hours of community service, and paying associated costs. The charge is then dismissed, and the individual can apply to have it expunged from their record. On the felony level, PTI typically involves twelve months of supervision and similar conditions, including a class, community service hours, and possibly a drug evaluation and testing.
